The Alt-Rock Band From Finland.
Frozen Factory started completely unplanned, and unnamed, in December 2018 as four men and a sound
engineer (yes, ok, he’s a man too) met in Lahti, Finland, to celebrate a free weekend in a studio. There were no expectations laid out on the table, only the rumours of good music penned by Tomi Hassinen, a
multi-instrumentalist. Tomi and drummer Eetu Pesu, already bandmates elsewhere, enlisted the help of
Tomi’s pal Asa Nyman and online spot Ozzy Slant to provide guitars and vocals. Engineer Oskari Viljanen
captured the action as the guys tracked as much as possible and shot three music videos over two days
with videographer Läpä Koivusalo.
The result was an energetic 3 track single and the idea of forming the band for real. Asa and Ozzy
were not available to continue from this point, so the two founding members of the newly named ‘Frozen
Factory’ searched for new band mates. The release of singles ‘Ruthless’ and ‘Stay Forever’ on YouTube in March 2019 coincided with an online search for a singer which was answered by British singer Stephen Baker who felt quickly inspired.
After a brief meeting in early April 2019, Stephen and Tomi seemed destined to team up. Waves
of productivity flowed and the first demos of new material took shape. As a new sound formed, the trio of
Tomi, Eetu and Stephen planned Frozen Factory’s debut album and started recording drums in late
spring. Guitarist Mici, a long time friend of Tomi, joined during the summer. The later part of 2019 was
spent recording, shooting music videos and recruiting manager Johanna Laakkonen. Taking to the stage
seemed natural after completing tracking so in January Frozen Factory performed the band’s debut set at
Vernissa, Vantaa whilst recording the performance for release later in 2020. There’s an air of confidence
in the group that our upcoming debut album with its topically themed lyrics and diverse musical moods
will get a strong reaction from listeners. Frozen Factory is poised to make a meaningful statement with a
memorable and repeatable musical experience.
