New Groove Magazine Presents: One Life To Lead

Genre: Metal

  1. How did you come up with the band Name?
There’s  a line in “The House That Doubt Built” by A Day to Remember – “you’ve only got one life to lead.”
  1. Tell us about where you come from and how that reflects in the music?
We’re from Baltimore, Maryland. Our city has a really solid pop-punk scene, as well as a huge rap scene. Our influences are put on display in our music.
  1. Tell us about the song-writing process, how do you create your music?
It really depends on the situation. Somebody could bring something (a riff, a line, a topic, etc…) and we’ll build off that. There’s really not a way we write set in stone. Everybody contributes!
  1. Who has influenced you the most?
So many answers. Everybody from Key! to State Champs to Don Broco to Four Year Strong. Whatever we’re listening to finds its way into our music.
  1. What was the first song you or your band ever wrote? Tell us if you performed it, trashed it, etc.….
I think the first song we wrote was Dub A off “The Only Way From Here Is Up.” I think it went over well haha.
  1. What song are you most connected to or proud of ?
From the Visions EP, probably Open Letter. Trey speaks on an important issue in today’s society, and delivers it flawlessly.
  1. Do you enjoy playing live and what do you enjoy about it?
The interaction between the crowd and the band is pure electric. It’s a party every time the lights go down
  1. What is next for the band?
A lot of content! We’re always working on something. We have new music on the way. We had the opportunity to work with Alan Day from Four Year Strong on the record and we learned a lot from him. Overall, we achieved a sound that’s a cohesive mix of rock, hip-hop, and R&B. We’re really excited to get this out there and we’re going to be releasing some other content as well.
  1. Any additional thoughts or Comments you would like to add?
Mask up, lets be good to one another. see you all soon!
