Paul was active for only about a year during the bands formative period and was replaced by George Young in 1975. While only active for a few shows in the Australian band’s home country, Paul also played for the Newcastle based band Armageddon. Once Paul was kicked from the band and replaced by George young, he gave up music and reportedly sold his bass guitar. Matters claims he ended his music career as a result of being sacked from the band, and on the topic of his departure from AC/DC Matters expressed with regret that, “every day I kick myself in the teeth, mate.” one of Matter’s friends, Rob Wescomb, stated in a Facebook post that “From all reports he lived a reclusive life in his later years and his early rock n’ roll lifestyle led to ailing health”, and “he will be missed by all that knew him.”
