| Pennsylvania metalcore band A SCENT LIKE WOLVES — Al Boltz (vocals), Nick Boltz (vocals), Cody Frain (drums), Jeff Brown (guitar), Kyle Pettigrew (guitar), and Blake McClimon (guitar) — have announced their new album Mystic Auras. While Erra were working on new material in a nearby town, ASLW convinced Cavey to drive to Philadelphia on an off-day to shoot his part for the video. “‘Bloom’ follows a couple’s relationship throughout the four seasons of the year. It covers the struggles and hardships of long-distance romance. The duo relishes the time they physically have together, but fear that this won’t be enough to sustain their emotional bond,” the band says. Mystic Auras is a concept album that sets out to uncover the things we desire and why we are drawn to them. Lyrical content ranges from the plights of socioeconomic status quo, depression, and the stigma of mental illness to the deconstruction of personal and intimate relationships. These are all common themes that are explored in some light throughout the progression of the album. The LP features notable guest appearances from JT Cavey (Erra), Booka Nile (Make Them Suffer), Brian Wille (Currents), and Mattéo Gelsomino (Novelists). The record is jam-packed with soaring choruses and some ambient guitar work. The overall sound is both technical and modern — the dual vocal styles between brothers Al and Nick Boltz offer a unique perspective on each song. Mystic Auras was produced by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio. In addition to resigning the band for the release of Mystic Auras, We Are Triumphant has acquired the band’s back catalog: the full-lengths And The Story Goes and Frigid Future, as well as the Spirit Vessel EP. The band’s We Are Triumphant debut LP Frigid Future was released in March 2016 and was followed by heavy U.S. touring. The band went on to tour Japan in November of that year with French metal outfit Shoot The Girl First, and continued to tour China as a headlining act in December. A Canadian headline run took place in August 2017. Frigid Future was one of the highest trending metalcore albums in Tower Records Japan until late 2018. A Scent Like Wolves went on to release the Spirit Vessel EP in March 2018. A video for “Angelwrath” featuring Ryo Kinoshita of Crystal Lake helped land the song on Spotify’s “New Core” Playlist. The band played select shows in the U.S. and toured South Korea, China, and Japan in support of the EP that spring. In October 2019, A Scent Like Wolves entered the studio. In December 2019, they re-issued And The Story Goes, which featured guest vocalists Ricky Armellino from Ice Nine Kills and Fronz of Attila. A three-week U.S. tour wrapped up the year for the band. Their new album Mystic Auras arrives in February 2021.   |
