Poisonfog is a Heavy / Stoner / Doom project born in Latina, Italy, in January 2020. The band is a
trio composed by Matteo “Alchemist” Perazzoni on guitar and vocals, Riccardo “Monnezza”
Ingarao on bass and Lorenzo “Joe Analstorm” Fortuna on drums. In 2018 Matteo and Lorenzo
formed a progressive / psychedelic experimental instrumental project called “Chain
of Gears“, which after several lineup problems ended with its dissolution without seeing a studio production. Despite the failure of this band, the two remained in contact as friends and after several parallel projects they tried to form a Doom project, called Mourning Cross, which included the current Poisonfog bassist Riccardo and dissolved soon after. At the end of 2019 Matteo decided to reassemble the core of Mourning Cross to try again, to put on a Doom project. This time, thanks to the experiences
matured in the various projects of each one, it’s been possible to create the necessary feeling to give birth to a more ambitious project. After a few months of meetings in the rehearsal room, the band decides to join in Studio satisfied with their work. Occult Knowledge is, musically speaking, the result of
different influences of the musicians involved in the band. This means that the music composed,
is a mix of Stoner Rock, traditional Doom and elements taken from the typical Hard Rock of the 70′. For this reason the tracks contained in the Ep have been interpreted differently from each other. In some tracks you can hear typical Stoner sounds while in others you can hear classic Doom. Poisonfog, that have been so involved in the registration of the EP, were slowed down by the epidemic due to Covid19.
In fact, only a few days before the release, they managed to get the work produced and mixed by “Roll It Baby Studio” (Luca Ferretti) and co-produced by the drummer (Lorenzo Joe Fortuna).
