Press Release: Cardamomo

Cardamomo brings restless contemplation before first album; listen to “Retrodose”

Genre: Indie/Latin

Press Release:

“Retrodose” is a debut for Cardamomo in many ways. It’s the first single with special guests, featuring Deborista on  flute (arranged by Daniel Lumertz) and it’s also the first featuring an acoustic guitar, played by the band’s guitarist Marcelo Henkin. Compared to the band’s previous songs, Retrodose stands out due to its instrumentation and diverse music style.

The song evokes a strong sense of movement that is guided by constant bass and drum lines. It also shows the versatility of the Brazilian trio through the contrast between the energic, intense moments and the melodic and introspective ones, further reinforced by the addition of a flute and acoustic guitar.

A music video accompanies the track, combining hints of surrealism and impressionism as it follows the protagonist: a mannequin. “She might be a hacker of reality, or maybe she is connected to human persons, but it is only the viewer who can really know the meaning of the mannequin’s journey” – say the directors of the video, João Gustavo Boll, Leonardo Augusto Kotz, João Boeira e João Pedro Quaresma, with assistance of Kira Luize Venzon.

As a bonus and B-side, the song Neurônios – that came out last December and will appear on the album – was remixed by the producer and guitarist Erick Endres. His touch on this remix brings elements of his solo work and, through the addition of layers and filters, the psychedelic sound of the track gets even more prominent, fitting well with Retrodose, the A-side.

Album cover by Tiziana Scur, who has been working with the band since 2019.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Alexandre Birck, at Estúdio Sangha.

Retrodose will be released on October 2, and you’ll be able to listen here: https://ffm.to/retrodose
